Lebanon Area Homeschoolers Drama Department

Drama Department Policies

In order to establish a list of behaviors that are discouraged, the Drama Department will strive to follow the instructions set forth in the Bible. Galatians 5:19-21 says, “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like…” Any questions concerning the Drama Department policies should be addressed to the Drama Committee.

Physical Contact:

There will be no kissing or intimate physical contact between actors, other than a hand kiss or innocent embrace during rehearsals and performances.

Profanity:

Absolutely no profanity or slang that is disrespectful will be allowed. This includes swearing or taking the Lord’s name in vain.

Vulgar or Sinful Behavior:

Laughing at or causing the audience to laugh at vulgar or sinful behavior is to be avoided.

Gender Reversal:

Gender reversal is not allowed. The Drama Committee should attempt to select a script that allows for the best use of participating Drama students. If additional male actors are needed, male students should be recruited or the roles changed to female roles if permissible.

Boy/Girl Relationships:

Drama activities are not to be utilized as opportunities for students to form romantic relationships; Drama is a group effort. Showing overt physical affection toward another student will not be permitted. Students are expected to behave in a manner that exemplifies a strong Christian ethic at all times. Students should be sensitive to those around them and should not conduct themselves in an offensive or inappropriate manner.

Cliques:

Cliques among the Drama students will be strongly discouraged. Students should try to get along, be a team player, and respect with every member involved in Drama. Each role is to be treated as equally important as another.

Changes to Drama Committee Procedures:

A motion can be made by a Drama Committee member to change a Drama Department policy or procedure at a regularly scheduled Drama Committee meeting. A vote of at least two-thirds, or five of seven members is required to change the policy or procedure.
