The primary mission of the Journalism Department is to provide a platform for which Homeschoolers communicate. This platform is to include information concerning all LAH Departments, announcements of events, reports, encouragement, and promotions of homeschooling efforts both within and without our community, and to preserve and create a heritage of memories for present and future Homeschoolers.
The branches of the Journalism Department include Web, Yearbook, and Newspaper. Each branch has its own editor. The editors are granted the responsibility to approve and edit the materials submitted, ensuring they follow the statement of faith and by-laws of the Lebanon Area Homeschool organization and serve to support this mission statement.
Web Information
The purpose of the LAH Website is to inform homeschoolers of LAH events, information, and its many activities. To submit information to be posted to the LAH Website, contact the Webmaster at
webmaster@lebanonareahomeschoolers.com
There are two weekly LAH electronic email services available: LAH Notes and LAH Community Classifieds. The LAH Notes, which are emailed each Tuesday, provides up-to-date information for all LAH activities and other homeschool related information. Special LAH announcements or reminders may be emailed separately. To submit an announcement or to join the LAH Notes mailing list, contact donnel_lah@charter.net The LAH Community Classified, which is also emailed each Tuesday, provides the LAH families an opportunity to advertise items for sale, services provided, special events, etc. To submit an advertisement or to join the LAH Community Classified mailing list, contact classifieds@lebanonaeahomeschoolers.com. Email addresses for either of these services will not be distributed or used for personal agenda.
Yearbook
The vision of Yearbook is to collect memories of the school year, introduce homeschooling families to each other, and advertise the many opportunities available to our homeschoolers through LAH. Yearbook is open to all homeschoolers; participation in any other LAH activity is not required.
The LAH Yearbook includes school pictures, family pages, and senior pages. Much of the Yearbook is assembled by the Yearbook Staff. A class is offered at Shared Learning for students in grades 7-12 who desire to learn publication layout, design, and photography skills and who want to work with the Yearbook Staff.
"A Different Voice” Newspaper
Students in grades 7-12 interested in learning the various aspects of journalism, including but not limited to, researching, interviewing, writing, editing, photography, drawing, layout and design, desktop publishing and/or ad sales, or improving their skills in these areas, are encouraged to join the staff of A Different Voice. The departments within the newspaper that students can work in are news, features, sports, and entertainment.
